Depending upon the arrival time of your flight, our staff will be waiting for you at the airport in Cusco to drive you to the town of Pisac which is located one hour from the city. This way you have the afternoon to explore the town known for its traditional market and as the entrance to the sacred valle. It is very important that you achieve a much faster acclimation here because Pisac is lower in altitude than the capital Cusco which is why we have no activity planned for our first day.

In the morning, our first place to visit is the archaeological complex of Pisac which is located 15 minutes from the town of the same name. We will have the opportunity to learn more about this complex. Today Pisac still has many buildings from the Incas and even a pre-colonial cemetery with more than 3,000 graves which are all located at the top of the mountain. The panoramic views are indescribable for this place, and are sure to leave you breathless. We will continue our journey alongside the river Wilkamayu (or sacred river ) to reach the capital of city the valley called Urubamba. Here we will taste the local cuisine with a buffet lunch and then continue to the living Inca city of Ollantaytambo to learn more about the architectural techniques time of the Inca civilization. Our guide will show us clear evidence of the processes and urban planning of settlements in pre-colonial times. At the end our visit we will go to the train station in the village to go to the town of Aguas Calientes and spend the night.

Our goal is to be one of the first people at the citadel of Machu Picchu. Therefore we suggest boarding the first bus from Aguas Calientes to the Citadel to have a chance to see the sunrise in this magical place. Our guide will show you the most important areas within the city by telling part of the story that makes this one of the 7 wonders of the world. After the tour you have the option to explore the city on your own or take a break contemplating and soaking in all the surrounding nature and scenery. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo where we will spend the night.

We continue enjoying nature but this time we will be mounted on horseback and on our way to explore the salt mines of Maras. These mines were used in colonial times by the first conquerors and today still continues its production of more than 5000 wells which are removed periodically for local sale in major markets in the area. After exploring the salt mines, we will continue our ascent to reach Moray. Moray was a very important agricultural area in Inca times for plant adaptation in different ecological floors and also for agricultural study pre-colonial times. We enjoy a well-deserved lunch taking advantage of the views of the Sacred Valley and later return to our bus to Cusco.

If you think we are going to go without visiting the archeological capital of America you are wrong! Today we will have a short walk around the historic center of the city where we will experience local life little by little as we walk the main streets, squares, local markets and temples. The deep and rich history is the reason Cusco is a living museum worth visiting! In the afternoon you can take time to make your last minute shopping, organize remaining travel or spend the afternoon resting in your hotel.

Depending on your flight schedule and plans we will transport to you at the airport.
